What's your opinions on Benzoyl Peroxide? I am coming to think it's useless. I use Oxy 10... it doesn't make my skin red or anything, in fact it basically does nothing! I have been getting a ton of whiteheads recently (I don't know whether to contribute it to adding yogurt into my diet, stress or the Dianette) and I was hoping it would help dry them up, but nothing

So while I am here, what is the best thing to take vitamin-wise for whiteheads and what's the best thing to put on topically? I really don't understand why I am getting them now as this is something I have never suffered much from...

This is what I take... 3mg B5, 35mg Zinc, Evening Primrose Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Selenium with vitamins A, C and E, Vitamin B Complex with vitamin C and I drink tons of water a day... so why are these damn whiteheads appearing? COULD it be due to the Dianette / Diane 35 or yogurt?

Awwww, I am so confused.

I've been skeptical about benzoyl peroxide in the past, because clearisil and oxy and all those others never worked for me. However, I found a cleansing regimen using only Purpose soap, Purpose moisturizer, and Neutrogena on-the-spot acne treatment, which contains 2.5% BP. I've used pretty much every over-the-counter and prescription drug ever created (Retin-A, Differin, Accutane, Tazorac, Cleocin-T, Dynacin, Tetracyclin, etc, etc) and nothing has worked as well as this acne regimen, because BP is most effective at killing P. Acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. I've only been on the regimen for three days and already all my current pimples/cysts are clearing up and I haven't gotten any new ones, and my skin is less oily. The only downside is that my skin is a little dry, but I'd rather have a few flakes then a lot of zits!

By the way, yogurt shouldn't affect your skin negatively. The acidopholus bacteria in yogurt is a "good" bacteria your body needs, which helps fight infections (including in your face!). It almost sounds like you're taking too many supplements, but I know different things work for different people. I don't know about Diane 35, but when I started taking Yasmin (the newest BCP on the market) I had a lot of whiteheads at first, but the benzoyl peroxide wiped them out after a day or so. Good luck!

Perhaps Benzoyl Peroxide works better for milder cases of acne. I think also that you have to use it RELIGIOUSLY, as in every single day without fail. My sister has mild acne and Benzoyl Peroxide has cleared her face up COMPLETELY. She looks so good! But she also uses it absolutely every day and if she stops her zits come back.

My acne is worse than hers, but then again I've never stuck to the regimin as strictly as she has, so BP has never worked very well for me.
Well every night without fail I load the stuff on... Oh well, maybe I have just become "immune" to the bugger.
Personally, I prefer hydrogen peroxide for whiteheads. it's cut down the number of them on my forehead.
