Re: Elicina?
Aug 24, 2002
Me and another person are discussing the different "batches" of elicina on another board and thought I would post some of it here. If its not working for you I would consider ordering a new jar or ask them for an exchange

Monet - about Elicina
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a similar experience with Elicina. It worked great for the first few jars I had, removed all kinds of pitting and redness, then about a year ago I must have gotten a bad jar because it made me break out and didn't help scarring any more. I just ordered it again and now it is working great.

Can you describe the consistency of the cream in the "bad" jar you had?

I think this is really big news! I had suspected that there were differences between batches and now I know for sure. My first jar-the one that did not work had an oilier, more mosturizing feel maybe even greasy feel to it and when I put it on my skin it did not seem to absorb very quickly, it was a more opaque white and resembled elmers glue. The second jar of Elicina was more transparent in color less white, had a "watery feel" was less thick and absorbed quicker and more completely. I had both jars at the same time to compare the differences. I bought a new jar before finishing the first jar because I had left the lid off overnight and had feared it had gone bad. Now these differences were not blatant I could only tell these differences because I had both jars at the same time. If I had thrown the other out before i got the new jar I probably would not have noticed a thing. And no I do not think the difference was made from leaving the first jar out. I would really like to order a new jar but I am currently experiencing a weird dermatitis and extremely oily skin on top of that. I cant wait though to get my next jar. I got the results from the second jar on a test area on only one of my temples and even now that temple is scar free and has the best skin on my entire face, smaller pores even. This temple does not have the dermatitis on it or oily skin either. WHenever I get a pimple on that temple it does not scar and I usually get a scar (pit/icepick) with every pimple these days. I just might try it on my dermatitis. Can you describe the scars you had that elicina worked for? i love success stories!

I'm glad I can share this information, it took me a long time to figure it out. I can confirm your observations, my bad jar had creme that was much thicker and greasier and I couldn't get it to rub in, the good stuff is very milky and light textured, it just sinks right in, only takes about 30 seconds to absorb.

I had a lot of residual damage from CO2 laser (which didn't work at all, a total rip-off). My skin was grainy and red for years. The Elicina fixed that in less than two months. It also got rid of a lot of small icepick scars, they were about 1 millimeter in diameter. It reduced some larger scars by about half before I quit using it last year.

I have a new strategy this time with the Elicina that seems to be really speeding up the results. I'm sure you have heard of face brushing for scars? I tried that but it was too harsh for me and requires down time. So instead, I am using Brasivol cleanser every other night, along with using the Elicina twice a day. Brasivol is really cheap, about $8 a jar, and it has the same crystals (aluminum oxide) that they use for microdermabrasion and also the same as those in the home microdermabrasion kit, Dermanew, a jar of which sells for $60!

Yes! Yes! My bad Elicina would not rub into my skin; just felt greasy, I had to let it dry; while the good Elicina absorbed so quickly and it felt as though I had nothing on my skin. This is why I liked it-felt as if nothing was on my skin. I am simply terrified of anything oily on my skin. I just compared the two jars again-still have them, and the bad Elicina is so much more whiter than the good elicina which almost has a grey tone to it-but I tthink it was the translucent quality of the new jar that prompted me to compare the two now that I think about it! Does your skin heal with no scars on the places you used elicina? I too have grainy looking skin from Co2, and I wish that I would have tested the good elicina on my entire face at the time I was testing it out but I didnt -now I have dermatitis and am afraid of putting anything on my skin -even the prescription my derm. gave me. How long does a jar last you? I emailed them twice about how long a jar lasts after its opened and got two different responses three months and six months.

Why did you quite using elicina last year if it was working so well?

Also, does bravisol work by exfoliating the skin? Is it harsh? Does it have any detergents added to it?

THanks so much Help!

I never thought about it, but I used Elicina over my entire face and I haven't gotten any scars since then. I stopped using it last year because of that bad jar, it was making me break out. I just thought my skin changed, it took me a while to figure out they had a quality control problem. I think last year Elicina wasn't as popular as it is now and they had jars sitting around. Also, the strange thing about the bad jar was the box and the package insert were totally in Spanish, not English and Spanish like the good jars (don't know if that means anything, but it probably came from a different warehouse). Anyway, I kept reading more and more success stories on the boards this year and decided to give it another try. And yup, the good stuff has almost a grey tone to it, it is so translucent.

I don't remember exactly, but when I was using it successfully last year, I think a jar lasted me two to three months and it was good to the bottom of the jar. I don't know if the problem is age or just the original consistency?

Yes, the Brasivol is an exfoliant, just like microdermabrasion. I really don't like the looks of the other ingredients (besides the crystals) so after I use it, I wash again with my own cleanser. I wouldn't say the detergent is harsh at all, though. But the crystals are, so you just have to figure out for yourself how much pressure to apply. The Brasivol comes in Fine, Medium and Rough, but they all have the same size crystals, they just put more in the Rough. So I get the Rough and just mix in a little more water to the blob before I put it on my face, it's cheaper that way. Here is a site where you can look at the ingredients: www.pharmrex.com/dept/pro...rodID=2073

Some drugstores carry it, the only one around me that has it is Drug Barn.

I got the idea of using the Brasivol from the Elicina site. On the page for stretch marks, they say to massage and use a scrub because it helps the Elicina to penetrate more deeply. Anyway, it is making my skin silky smooth and my remaining scars are improving already.
