You had mental problems with accutane the first time and are going for a second round ?
Have you ever thought the reason your getting acne is due to improper function of neurotransmitters and the brain in general ? That would mean going on accutane is a 'catch - 22'.
Omega-3's are what helps the brain, feeds the brain and in a nutshell it's what your brain essentially is. Long-chain omega 3 fatty acids combat neurological disorders, improve intelligence, promote focus and learning. Omega-3's also support neuronal pathways and neuronal growth, which is VERY essential.
DHA (found in fish oil) which is one of the omega-3's is the primary structural fatty acid in the gray matter of the brain. This promotes communication between brain cells by allowing synapses to remain soft and functional.
Fish oil is the best source of omega-3 and if you are taking accutane for a second, i'd suggest increasing omega-3 intake. Another must is viatmin C.
Since your brain is made up primarily of fatty acids it's MUCH more susceptable to free radicals which promote oxidation damage. Vitamin C helps neutralize free radicals due to in part by it's strong antioxidant abilities.
You may want to ask a psychiatrist (not the derm) about omega-3 combating accutane effects. Your derm won't say anything 'good' about any vitamins. They are 'trained' not to. At the same time stopping omega-3 while taking accutane is ridiculous due to the fact that in EFA's help keep your triglyceride levels in 'check' so they don't increase out of control from accutane's systemic side effects .
