Basically, salicylic acid is a type of BHA (beta hydroxy acid) that exfoliates the top layer of your skin by penetrating into your pores and cleaning them out. Glycolic acid is a type of AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that is deemed better for dryer skins to smooth out fine lines and discolorations by exfoliating the top layer of your skin (same goes for lactic and malic acids). I heard AHAs and BHAs are best when used in conjuction, and you'll have smooth results faster. But note that certain AHAs break people out (but this may be the initial breakout factor, not sure about this one).
