WOW! I have the same exact problem with my acne. I turned 33 this year and started getting acne when I was 19. I get an occassional pimple around my nose/central face but I ALWAYS have breakouts on my chin area. In fact, I would say my whole chin is usually covered in acne but the rest of my face clear. Like you, I've tried everything under the sun for relief: all the skin antibiotics, every wash, cream and treatment over the counter, about 5 major prescribed topicals/gels, religious washing, natural remedies, 2 different birth control pills, diets, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. While, at times some of these treatments have made a slight improvemnet in my breakouts or size of, NONE of them made it go away. I know, how discouraging! I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this battle... never give up. When I'm 80yrs old, I'll probably still be fighting. -Good Luck and let me know if you find something.
When I saw the description "chin acne" I thought maybe it was like my chin - I suffer constantly with ingrown hairs on my chin. I am 58, but have been menopausal since I was 31 because of a total hysterectomy at 30. Long story short, the chin hairs get caught under new skin and sort of turn around and still growing, become an itchy, red bump that looks like a pimple. Ick.
Anyway, my ongoing acne and these chin sores had me researching for help and I read about one thing that may help you. To test this is inexpensive and you'll know right away if you are "on to something". Buy the smallest bottle you can find of a dandruff shampoo - any dandruff shampoo will do but it can't be the 2 in 1 kind with a conditioner in it. These shampoos contain an antifungal ingredient, a form of Zinc (that is what keeps dandruff away - dandruff is actually caused by an overgrowth of fungus on your scalp.) It can be drying to your skin, so try washing your chin morning and night, but moisturize too. Just maybe your chin sores actually come from overactive fungus (we all have some on our skin) in that area. Sounds funny, but it's easy to try. It relieved some of my skin problems within a few days, but not all. I hope you will find an answer in any case. Please let us know how it goes.
I know it's not easy to forget about it, but try not to think about it all the time. Remember you are a worthy, productive, lovable creature in spite of this!
