... Not many peak at 420nm. The ones that come close are the 10,000k german made reef aquarium bulbs. However they have a pretty even spectrum and a number of other peaks as well so it is not ideal. (8 replies)
... Just google for "metal halide 400w" or something like that. Any normal metal halide bulb should peak around 420 nm. The only problem is that along with the $45 bulb you need to buy wiring and a power supply (they don't work in normal sockets). (8 replies)

Nah, shouldn't cost nearly even that much... by my calculations, you should be able to get a 400W metal halide bulb (exactly the same as Clearlight) with power supply (ballast) and cords for $150-200 off the internet. Then you just need to build a box with some reflectors in it, then stick your head in the box... I've been meaning to try this, but hey, $150 is still a lot of... (8 replies)
