... Was the prescription med called Bactrim, but only while I was on it. Not tetracycline, minocycline (ACcutane worked while on it, but didn't cure), and definitely not any topicals (probably because my condition was of a severe cystal one). I just read a post about swallowing raw garlic, because it has plenty of sulfur. Then I read about Bactrim on an informational website.... (0 replies)
... i've tried tetra and minocyclin and topical antibiotics and it did nothing but make my skin 10x worse! now i have to go on accutane because my face looks like a warzone. ... (29 replies)
... A little light at the end of the tunnel, perhaps. Although this only applies for women (sorry guys). I am 23 years old and for as long as I can remember been suffering from acne. Some people may remember my posts from a LONG time ago, but it's been a while since I've been here. I had severe cystic acne throughout high school which was complete hell. No boyfriend, no... ... I havent started using my prescription yet, but Im scared sh*tless that it won't do anything for me .. because I really don't want to take accutane.. Right now Im just taking doxycycline and drinking a lot of lemon water.. I hope it works for me. (3 replies)
... I'm on Mino right now. I've been taking it for about a month and a half, the first two weeks it made me break out really bad. Now I notice no changes since and actually it might actually be getting worse. I think if this fails, I'm just gonna ask to be put on Accutane, I don't care anymore. My acne is considered mild to moderate but I've had it for so long that it's become... (8 replies)
... Yem, I was on mino and for the first 3 weeks I was very clear! But I felt dizzy alot. After 3 weeks it stopped working, now I am on accutane. Good luck. (8 replies)
... Whenever I read 'initial breakout' I get the chills. To me, that initial breakout...esp if it was severe... would be traumatic more so than dealing with a few pimples. That was my case with minocycline. (6 replies)
... I know that I am incredibly lucky! My acne was not even really severe. It was moderate (not cystic), but very persistant. It resisted all antibiotics except minocycline, which made me so dizzy I wanted to throw up! So, I'm just thrilled my Dr. prescribed it. Yes, I am just really wishing this "initial breakout" would clear a little before I go back to teaching in 2... (11 replies)

... In my opinion, antibiotics are a sham treatment for acne. They clear up your skin for as long as you are on it but the acne almost always comes back. You will have to take the antibiotic until you *hopefully* outgrow the acne. In my case I ended up taking antibiotics for about 10 years. I hate to think about the money I spent on those drugs and the effect they had on my... (3 replies)
... I'm on minocycline and bht right now. Whenever I have one drink it feels like I have had 4 or 5. I get drunk off of one beer, which is somewhat pathetic. ... (6 replies)
... I know you said you don,t want to take accutane agian but i know people who needed a 2 course to resolve there problem...just a thought. (2 replies)
... I know that you also mentioned accutane already...did that help at all? ... (2 replies)
... minocycline is more effective than tetracycline so you might want to consider that. And Saw Palmetto will help with controlling androgens which cause acne. Look for Spring Valley (Walmart) 160mg softgels and take 2X a day. (6 replies)
... Hi, s335983. Don't you think it is odd in the research that you posted, they compared isotretinoin to antibiotics, not a placebo? Antibiotics are proven to cause depression as well! I have seen the research on minocycline. (16 replies)
... incl. dieting, B5, minocycline etc. ... (8 replies)
... yea...I don't know about accutane, i'm kinda scared of it, and also, I don't think my derm would prescribe it to me cuz my skins not that bad. I'm currently taking b5, so we'll hope this'll work! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! (5 replies)
