... Thanks for reply Jester. I know everything takes time (sheesh, anyone that deals with acne hears that for ANY treatment). I just am hoping this isn't one of those "It's gotta get bad before good..." deal, which usually just stays bad (well, except for heavy hitters like Accutane, which usually turn good). Actually, if you search for azithromycin, it's been in quite a few... (7 replies)
B5 worries
Sep 13, 2003
... As someone who was on b5 for just under a year I can tell you, b5 DOES NOT WORK. For the money you spend on the pills you'd be better off going to a derm and getting a real treatment. I know some people will reply and say "oh well for me it worked" but I have yet to actually meet anyone who had their acne lessen after taking b5. When I ask people how they got rid of their... Tazorac anybody?
Sep 12, 2003
... i'm been using tazorac for the past 8 weeks. I used it every night along with minocycline. I would wash the tazorac off after a few minutes to avoid irritation. My acne before treatment was moderate i guess. During the first month-6 weeks my acne got a lot worse. I've never seen my skin look so bad and i was very scared and upset. Now after 8 weeks it has improved, but... (6 replies)
... If, after several weeks, and the carley's is not helping, what should the next step be. The derm has written my son an rx for accutane, but he didn't want to do this and I didn't push it. She then wrote 4 rx's - benzaclin, minocycline, benzoyl perox wash, and retin-a gel. This sounds like a heck of a lot of stuff to be putting on at one time! Is there another option that... ... Thanks for everyone for replying, however, my feelings have yet to change because I've tried so many different things without success. Here's a rundown (in no order): External: Benzoyl Peroxide, Retisol-A, Retin A, Clindamycin Dalacin T, Acne Cure (Salicylic and Glycolic Acid), Clindamycin Lotion, Actinac, Benzamycin, Proactiv, Tazorac Internal: Accutane (3times),... ... Dude, If I was in your situation (suffering from age 15 untill age 26) I'd say forget the topicals and go to accutane. Personally, I wouldn't be able to handle having acne that long. I commend you for your patience with acne. Differin/minocycline and clindamycin cleared me 100% but stopped after a year. Now I'm on Retin-A micro/ Clindamycin/ Doxycycline and it seems to be... ... Today was a day filled with revelations for myself. Here's the story: About a year ago I was placed on minocycline, which cleared up my face wonderfully. Here's the problem, my doctor kept me on it longer than your supposed to stay on any one anti-biotic at that dosage that I had. You're supposed to stay at a high dosage for as little time as possible because your body can... (1 replies)

Right now I'm on Retin-A Micro, and it works at keeping the acne away, but my face peels every day and is red. I'm also taking Doxycycline, which doesn't work.
