Strattera
Aug 10, 2004
I started this topic so that people can have a discussion about both the POSITIVE and negative experiances they have had on Strattera. Please, feel free to ask one another questions and share your personal experiances.

I DO NOT have A.D.D. or A.D.H.D, but I was placed on Strattera because of possible borderline personality disorder and previously diagnosed Depression and Anxiety, which are in part related to the Celexa I am on to treat OCD...I know, I'm a mess

I have had an all around great experiance with Strattera. I find I am finishing entire tasks with less resistance, and I am far more relaxed and "in the moment". I get pretty bad headaches and muscle tension, and the Strattera seems to be very effective at helping those.

I have only experianced a couple of negative side effects and one of them is a racing heart. I have clocked my heart at 130 b.p.m. and OVER, which is really very high for me...seing as I weigh 120 lbs. and exercise enough so that my heart rate should be lower....I also have mild insomnia, which only adds to the severe insomnia that the Celexa, which is being used to treat the OCD gives me. I find that I can only hope to get to bed early...

I am willing to live with those side effects though in trade off for the wonderfully improved quality of life that Strattera provides me.

Anyone else have a heart rate that was significantly elevated after taking Strattera?

Thanks,
Brendan

ps - I am only on 20 mg/day. 10 in the morning, 10 in the afternoon.

Oh my, those side effects will get to you over time, especially health-wise. You take both Celexa and Strattera? Your health may be compromised in a few years. I know you said it's all worth it but I've seen the misery that medical problems bring on some people, so at least think about it. Maybe there are other ways to find the source and way to control the OCD without meds someday.
