We have an "emergency" prescription of regular release Adderall (5mg) for nights when Z has too much trouble focusing/concentrating on homework. The XR works well...but there are days when it wears off before he's done with needing it. Perhaps the next time you go to the Dr. this is something you could discuss.

Again, it takes a couple of weeks for all the symptoms to wear off (if he's experiencing them), sounds like a good couple of first days with some improvements.

Hang in there -- you are NOT alone.

P.S. As for feeding the child a lot of extra fat, I hope your Dr. truly meant CALORIES. An extra glass or two of milk at night will add a lot of calories, a moderate amount of fat but healthy doses of vitamins as well. DO NOT fall into letting the child eat a lot of empty fat calories if there are any heart or weight issues that run in your family.
