My doc gave me a prescription for Concerta and my insurance company is being an a-hole about paying their part for the drug. They say I have to try Ritalin first for four weeks.

Other than the time release factor of Concerta being taken once a day, what are some of the differences between these drugs?
Speaking as a mom from my daughters' experience through many years of dealing with several different drugs for ADD, Ritalin is much like Adderall which she has taken . WHen in the 5 mg dosage ( using 3 to 4 times per day), she had the sensation of feeling a bit jittery in the A/M then the drop in the drug right before taking it again at lunch time, and so on through the day.

When on the Adderall XR, which is a slow release of the drug and lends a lesser abuse use rate in the event it would get in the wrong hands, she reported about the same jittery feeling in the A/M but no dropping out feeling until later in the day ( about 3:30 P/M). However, she did have an "odd/weird" feeling the first 3 to 5 weeks when initially beginning it, but the dropping out feeling was smoother.

Hope this helps!
