Hi all. My doctor will be having me start taking Focalin shortly so I've been trying to do some reseach on it. I have used these boards a lot and have found great information. Here at the ADD forum I see a lot of questions with ritalin adderall and stratera, but i was hoping someone might have some insight as to how focalin works and how they are doing on it. i've recently takin a leave of absense from work b/c i have been so bad lately with focusing, i was about to lose my job! thankfully my company agreed to let me take this time to get treatment! so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
just a few questions i have off the top of my head:

is focalin a stimulant/is it controlled?
is it just as good as the other medications?

Thanks!!! :)
My daughter now takes Focalin after 3-4 years on Adderall XR. We are so much more pleased with the Focalin as she really has no side-effects other than being able to stay more focused. It doesn't effect her appetite, moods, sleeping, etc. She is a big girl for her age of 11 and only has to take 7.5 mgs in the morning and 5 mgs in afternoon if needed. She is homeschooled so I don't have to worry about embarassment of lunch time dosing and she only takes the second dose if she needs it for extra-curricular activites. For us, another advantage is that the cost is more than half of Adderall as we don't have insurance that covers this type of med.
