... Thanks for the compliment. It's a shame you have to take all those pills but at least you are sticking to low dosages. Basically though, the docs have you on uppers and downers. From what I've read, this is the stuff that can later on get you a bi-polar diagnosis, if you don't already have one. It's those high/low brain chemicals that are symptoms of that disease and almost... (13 replies)
... Sometimes I take a 5mg of Ritalin around 2pm, which helps me focus in the afternoon at work, but also makes it hard for me to go to sleep at night. ... (13 replies)

... When my son was 6 years old, he was on Ritalin for a few months and then Dexedrine (total 5 or 6 months). He developed tics. He would roll the bottom of his shirt continuously and if he didn't have a shirt on he would go for his shorts or whatever. He also had some throat noises. Once he was off all meds, it took him a few months to get rid of the tics. What you are seeing may... (4 replies)
... I had some of the same experiences with addreral, it also made me feel weird and made me depressed when the drug wore off. What works the best for me is Ritalin, 5mg dose 3 times a day. Out of all I have tried, this was the best medication for my ADHD symtoms. ... (5 replies)

... All the medicine used for ADD can cause weight loss. Amphetamine is twice as strong as the same dose of ritalin, and dexidrine is twice a strong as the same dose of adderall. (20, 10, and 5mg respectivley). Straterra is non-stimulant and may not cause such an extreme appetite loss as amphetamines would; and wellbutrin-sr is also an option as it is used sometimes to treat... (4 replies)
... You have to start on a low dose and work your way up as instructed by your doctor. There are some docs who prescribe high doses (20+ mgs) straight away but most people end up with bad reactions and side effects that way. Most instructions start on 5mg twice a day, then go up to 10mg, then to 15mg (every few days) and so on until there is a result, although if 20 - 30 mg do... (3 replies)

... My son was just diagnosed at age 5. His pediatrician and I had talked about it through the years. After 4 yrs of observation, a teacher survey and parent survey he felt comfortable diagnosising my son. We are trying to get him ready for kindergarten so he is on a low dose of ritalin (5mg bid). The low dose is letting him focus more without losing all of his energy. We... (25 replies)

... My seven year old daughter just changed from ritalin 7.5mg to Concerta 18mg. It seems to be working good, except she does not want to go to sleep at night. ... (7 replies)
... I am on day 10 on Strattera. So far I have not noticed any side effects nor any positive effects. I take a little Efexor with it and a very small amount of Ritalin (about 2.5mg every 4 hours). I plan to stop taking those the closer I get to the 4 week mark. No medicine has worked for me longer than 2 weeks (except in the beginning). This was my last resort. Hope it will help. (33 replies)
... So we put my dd (7 year old) on a med trial for 2 weeks. She's been taking 7.5mg of ritalin 3x a day (she weighs 45lbs). The teachers wrote back to me to let me know she's staying on task, doing her school work, focusing much better, not playing in her desk, etc. This week we will try her on 10mg because she is still a bit "bouncy" ... ... This message board has been so helpful. I just started my 2 sons on Straterra. 10 year old was on 54 Concerta plus catapres and 6 year old on ritalin 5mg 2x/day. My younger son is an easy case,, its the older one who is complex. My doctor told us to stop the Concerta cold turkey and then we will taper down the Catapres. He started with 25 mg for 4 days and today took 40 mg. ... (152 replies)
... with dexedrine. I have found that only the name brand dexedrine provides favorable results. The generic brand resulted in a physically ill state much the same as ritalin had caused when I had tried it originally. I have found that if I take too much then the dexedrine causes more harm than good. ... (3 replies)
... Hi. My son is in 11th grade, going into 12th. He took the SAT tests in March, doing better in Verbal than in Math, which was unexpected (math is actually easier for him because there are "definite" answers). We think the atmosphere of the testing site - lots of kids, lots of noise, girl right behind him chewing gum VERY loudly - distracted him from doing his best. I have... (1 replies)
