Why don't you ask your doctor to switch you to another type of medication? I am prescribed Adderall and for me, it feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The way I know it's working is because my ADHD isn't affecting my life! I can pay attention to people when they talk and I get more things done because I understand and remember what I have to do. Before I was DX, I was a total space cadet. You could tell me something and it would go in one ear and right out the other. I think that my meds have even helped my driving! Your headaches might go away after a while, too. Try to continue on the medication for a little while longer to see if the side effects decrease.

As for your second question about "loving" your family- Adderall is a CNS stimulant and mainly affects two different neurotransmitters in the brain, dopamine and norepinephrine. I'm not 100% sure, but my guess would be the rise in these neurotransmitters and the stimulant effect of the drug gives you almost a euphoric feeling. This would be where the "love" comes from. And like I said, I'm not an expert, but that's my opinion.

So go see your doctor again and try to get on a different medication. Everybody reacts differently to medications. What works for me may not work for you.
