Re: Stimulants?
Oct 21, 2010
Good to hear the Concerta is working for him. About sleep aids- I used to have insomnia and sleep issues. Before being diagnosed with Adhd, I was prescribed a few different sleep aids, and while they were effective, they caused side effects like daytime grogginess, mood changes. I've found that after adjusting to stimulant medication, I have no trouble falling asleep and staying asleep throughout the night. Methylphenidate, which is Concerta and also Ritalin, has worked well for alot of people. Concerta is time released, Ritalin is immediate release. You might want to talk to your doctor about taking your son off of Clonidine and seeing if Concerta is effective on it's own for sleep. If not, the time release might be the problem, and Ritalin might be another option. Ritalin was great for ADD but I found it made me want to sleep a little too much, lol. Good Luck!
