Hi Sassymom,
I have two sons, 13 and 10, who started taking the Straterra about 6-8 weeks ago. They have been on Ritalin, Concerta and Adderol XR in the past. At first, the Straterra didn't seem to be working at all. My sons seemed horribly moody. My youngest even had violent outbursts. I was ready to take them off right away. They both started having problems in school bigtime! My youngest also complained of feeling very nauseous at school. However, things are going much, much better. We make sure my son has a big breakfast (he eats 2 bowls of cereal now, rather than one). Since then, he's had no problems with nausea. Things have also been going much better for them both at school. They both used to fight me tooth and nail taking their Ritalin and Adderol, but now they don't argue about taking Straterra, and they both say they feel better taking it (more focused without the stimulant side effects they hated so much.) I would say try to stick with it for at least 6-8 weeks to make sure you give it a fair chance. I was ready to take them off after 4 weeks, but the doc told me to hang in there, and it paid off. Hang in there - it's so tough to be a mom with ADHD boys!! I feel for you!
