... a psychiatrist that has a clue, and managed to get myself back on Adderall. I started last week with 20mg, which did little for me, maybe more than the 54mg of Concerta I'd been on, maybe about the same, but 2 days on 30mg and I'm a different person. ... (11 replies)
... Ritalin is generic and is available in SR aka sustained release formula. Concerta is nothing more than ritalin in an extended release formula just like the generic Ritalin. Why not ask your doc about switching to a generic extended release ritalin tablet and give it a try. ... (6 replies)
... Bob, In my experience, stimulant regulations here are arbitrary and, at times, downright random. For example, I can get Dex CR, on a standard scrip, from any pharmacy with no problems, I used to fill mine at the local Safeway. Generic Methylphenidate, on the other hand, requires a triplicate prescription which cannot be refilled and is limited to a maximum of one month... (17 replies)

... Have you tried any other medications? It is odd that the dr wouldn't try the other stimulents. My son tried EVERY medication there was and ended up on Concerta. The side effects from the other medications were too bad. We are adjusting his meds now as he is taking 72 mg of concerta which means 2 pills $$$$$$. We tried generic metheylphenadate 1st which wore off by 1:00. ... (6 replies)
... our doctor is indeed an ADHD expert, he likely knows that subtle changes in medication can yield major results. Unfortunately, neither of those are available in generic versions yet, so Ritalin might be your best bet if cost is an issue. ... (3 replies)
... Problem is, the only thing that seems, these days, to provide any result at all is Adderall. Quick note, Adderall won't be generic in Canada until 2019, and we still pay an arm and a leg for it. ... (5 replies)
... Your dose may be too high. Amphetamine salts (generic adderall) has a half life of about 5 hours. "Half life" usually refers to the length of time a drug is effective in controlling its target symptoms. But side effects such as insomnia may persist beyond half life. So we are right back to Asurvivor2's advise: "Take it earlier in the day - lower your second dose." Problem:... (8 replies)
... My son was the same way when he first went on Concerta 2 years ago. I can't remember how long it took for it to go away. He was also switched from the generic Ritilan, which made him very emotional, so I was very leery of the Concerta. ... (2 replies)
... twice a day. Works reasonably well at school, bad after effects at home. We just got the overlap timed right. Tried Concerta 18 mg last Sat. ... (2 replies)
... Good luck with the doc. Yes, there is a Ritalin LA. You also need to know that Concerta and Metadate are also "ritalin". ... (29 replies)
... innattentive Add. I Was Taking 10mg 3x A Day For A Month And Was Initially Supposed To Take 36mg Of Concerta Until I Had Problems With My Insurance. Before I Go Into That Story, I Was Just Prescribed 30mg Of Adderall Xr 3 Days Ago. ... (0 replies)
... Metadate and Ritalin LA are also the same. The difference is in the delivery system and it is a huge difference. Concerta lasts much longer and is much smoother. ... (6 replies)
... Methylphenidate is the generic name. This is true of Concerta and Metadate. That's why I was curious about your being more opposed to Ritalin than to Concerta. Obviously, Straterra and Wellbutrin are not the same. ... (17 replies)
... I switched from Concerta to Strattera and now to Adderall. ... (0 replies)
Ritalin- first day

... The generic should work as well. I'm one of the few people who can't take Ritalin or methylpheniate though. Had reactions to it and Concerta. ... (3 replies)
... I haven't had experience with concerta but check into Dexdrine or Dextroamphetamine. Dextroamphetamine is the active ingriedent in Dexedrine. Dexedrine is the brand name for dextroamphetamine. ... (2 replies)
... or 60 mg for a day's worth of normal brainedness. 10 mg of Adderall would be a better choice but from my take on your posts Adderall isn't happening. Adderall generic IR has about 2.5 times more burn time than generic Rit. Look at the dif in dose assuming I'm correct and I admit I may be in error. ... (9 replies)
... c they both have a generic brand. ... (6 replies)
... I just wanted to comment that Neither drug is a Generic - the actual "generic" name of the drug they both contain is Methylphenidate- which is the same component of Ritalin. The difference in these medications is how it is delivered (capsule vs tablet) and how it is absorbed into the body. They are both time released medications, however Metadate delivers an initial... ... Bob, I'm brand new to this board and like what you have to say, and your extensive knowledge and research. I am seeking out support for my 10 year old son. I've never heard of guafanice? Does it go under a 'generic' name? My son is fairly mild but has developed tics/ocd type behavior. We began medication last year (lowest dose of concerta). The rebound is awful, he lost...
