... Bob, I'm brand new to this board and like what you have to say, and your extensive knowledge and research. I am seeking out support for my 10 year old son. I've never heard of guafanice? Does it go under a 'generic' name? My son is fairly mild but has developed tics/ocd type behavior. We began medication last year (lowest dose of concerta). The rebound is awful, he lost... ... I wouldn't let schools or daycare determine my son's health. Quite frankly, I'd complain to school board or even see an attorney if necessary. If you slowly wean him off, he hopefully will get better. IHMO< Before I'd let my son continue harmful drugs I'd even lie if necessary; I mean, just because you see a doctor and fill a prescription doesn't mean the pills need to go... (8 replies)

... I wish I had a better answer, but I'm not sure. I just know that Concerta is a long-acting form of Ritalin. It makes sense that the longer half life would make you less prone to tics, but I have no idea what the science is behind that. there is also Strattera, which is non-stimulant. Some people don't have much luck with it, but maybe it's worth a try? I've heard some people... (3 replies)

People can have very different reactions to each of the different stimulants. I said different a lot, I know. Also, depending on the dose, and whether it's extended release or not can have an effect too. So if giving your... (29 replies)
