... Have you ever read all the side effects in the medicinces you may take,, even tylenol.. geesh , don't panic.. the makers have to list all possible side effects it doesn't mean they all happen , and certainly not to most people. Ritilian has been around for many decades , at least 5 or 6 ,, so nothing obvious has cropped up. I remember hearing about stunted growth and... (2 replies)

... JAURQUIZO, Manufacturers are required by law to put all those scary things on the label. You are wise to read the labels -- not everyone does before they take a medication. But it sure is scary to read! :) But your doctor is right -- Ritalin is one of the oldest meds for ADHD, and therefore has the longest time to show what it can do, and what the risk factors are. In... (2 replies)
... I'm 45 years old. I grew up in a huge Catholic neighborhood with tons and tons of kids. It was a kid paradise neighborhood. Ritilan back in the 1960's was nothing any parent wanted to talk about. ADD and ADHD were hush, hush subjects. However, even at my young age back then, I was aware of 3 kids in my neighborhood that were on it. The parents really resisted because... (11 replies)
... Ritalin may have been around for 40 years, but it's use in a large population of children did not take off intil the end of the 1980's-early 1990's. Not many long term or common problems can show up or be properly evaluated if hardly anyone is taking it. Nobody I knew of nor myself ever heard of Ritalin, or anyone on it when I graduated from high school in 1975; my son went... (11 replies)

... WOW, this was really a shocker, I know ritalin hasn't been around long enough to know the extreme long term effects of it but I've been on 20mg 3 times a day for 2 years or so and this really concerns me. I must thank you very much for posting your concerns here, i will be sure to ask my physician about this the next time I visit her. Thankyou again. (11 replies)
... Manik - My sons liver enzymes took some time before they became elevated. But when they decided to; they just started shooting right up there. In due time I guess will find the results of that, I don't think it is... (11 replies)
... Very glad to hear you caught this. Elevated liver enzymes are a known and very rare side effect of Ritalin, one that is listed in the PDR, etc. I noticed from your other posts that your family appears to have a history of liver disease. Does the doctor think there is a connection? - ie that your son's condition may be related to heredity? (11 replies)
... I have an 11 yr. old son who has ADHD, about a 8 months ago the DR had taken him off his concerta....
