... My son is ten and been on meds for half his little life. You do have to adjust meds to the weight of the child. My son was on Stratera (?SP) and it did not work for him. It is not like adderall and ritalin. Adderall and ritalin contain what is highly known as Meth. In kids with ADHD and such, Meth supposedly has the opposite affect then what it would for a normal person. ... (5 replies)

... Hi Sodawater and Rheanna, I don't know if your question about meds working was answered but I had several comments to make - one is that you probably didn't get alot of replies because I think maybe alot of the meds aren't working for other people as well so they don't know how to respond - I think if you're on a meds that is working, you know it and you won't need to ask... ... Concerta has worked great for me. I was diagnosed with Adult ADD about a year ago and started on Stratera. That did nothing for me so I was moved to Concerta. It was like night and day. I can't even begin to explain how much better each day is. The only downsides are: It wears off in the evening, makes it difficult to converse with my wife. When you miss a day, don't... (6 replies)

... her approach is. My doc feels like stimulants are the first line of defense against ADD and had me try them before stratera or even wellbutrin. I'm not a recovering meth addict, but I've had my time with various recreational drugs. Turns out, Adderall works great for me. ... (7 replies)

... My daughter is on medicaid and she gets Straterra for free hun. The pharmacists had to put in a special code or something for it to go through, but it did and she has been getting it for about 6 months now. Maybe talk to yout pharmacist and see what they can do. Edited to add that I re-read what you posted and you said it didn't recognize it as an adult affliction. Sorry... (19 replies)
... No, not at the moment. ive tried prozac, wellbutrin, and ritalin as an adult, and out of the 3, prozac made the most difference for me, but that doesnt mean it will work for everyone. I would like to try stratera, but medicaid doesnt recognize add as an adult affliction, and i cant afford it otherwise. (19 replies)

Stratera ?

... I can help simplify the other drugs that are available. Most docs prescribe stimulants for individuals with ADHD. The majority are based on the generic form of Ritalin (which is methylphenidate). Ritalin, Ritalin LA, methylphenidate, Concerta, and Metadate are all the exact same medication but with different delivery systems so that they are effective for varying lengths... (2 replies)
... Yeah, that helps a ton. I did go through the the multiple choice tests, and the family/life interrogation. The doctor that I was seeing at the time, (now I have a new Pdoc) ended up putting me on Welbutrin for concentration, which did nothing. The same doctor gave my girlfriend Stratera, which didn't really help either. Just to stray from the topic a bit. Through a... (11 replies)

My friends say I am very mellow and laid back . But I am totally ADD. If your doc thinks Strattera is right,go for it. Strattera has definately helped me. Hopes this helps. (1 replies)

I was diagnosed in July and have worked with a lot of stuff and have found success with many methods. I used to be on Stratera, but that was painful. So now I'm on Conerta 36mg and maybe moving up to 54mg (I believe). So if anyone has... (3 replies)
