Stratera thoughts
Apr 14, 2004
... I started the Adderall XR today. I don't know if I feel different or not. I think I'm more focused, but it may just be from knowing that I started something new. I do know that after one day, I don't have any side affects! I certainly don't feel like I'm on speed or anything like that. I'm taking the minimum dosage right now. My doctor believes in taking it slow. (38 replies)
... I am a 29 year old male who just started Strattera back in November 2003. I started out at 40mg, then advanced to 80. At first I thought it was working, but I think I may have been just talking myself into that misconception. I ended it after 2 months as I didnt see much improvement in concentration and "scatterbrain-ness", plus my co-pays were $50! Side Effects included:... (38 replies)

Minimal side effects - slight drowsiness paired with a weird immediate alertness when I choose to stop drowsing- also maybe a tad of flatulence but hey coulda been the cabbage. :) I am already on 18mg concerta 4 tabs/ day (3 morning 1 midday) too early to tell any... ... I am on 40 mg, and have been for two months now. I've noticed that the medication doesn't seem to be as forceful as it had been in the past, but it still works, and I know that If I go off of it, I'll go right back to the way I was. Even at this minimal level, the benifits are still great. I still have the out of synch issues and the difficulty with keeping it up after a... (38 replies)
... hard!! I am a first grade teacher and could see myself in all the kids I have in class that are ADHD so I went to dr and did alot of test. I first started taking stratera and hated it.I literally could not hold my eyes open. I have been on Concerta for over a week now and I hate it too. ... (19 replies)

... I am a 36 yo male. Ironically I work with many kids diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. I am a Mental Health Therapist lol. I remember well, as a child, having the teachers put me in "a box"(aka carroler) to keep me on task. Even remember my 2nd grade teacher dumping the contents of my messy desk on the floor of the classroom (ouch!). As an adult I get by, but paperwork, managing... (128 replies)
... Chicago, My son (who's 11) takes 40 mg Strattera and 36 mg Concerta--Concerta is a time release form of Ritalin. Over the past 3 years he has taken Ritalin, Concerta, Strattera, Strattera AND Ritalin, and now Strattera AND Concerta. For him, the Strattera/Concerta combination seems to work the best. Both Ritalin and Concerta helped all of his ADHD symptoms, of which he... (2 replies)
... I have been taking Strattera for 7 weeks and am now at 85 mg (once in the morning. I am having mood difficulties similar to those you describe. The first few weeks I cried almost daily, and I was really irritable. During that time, I exploded verbally a couple of times, but now I'm having a different feeling: I feel the anger well up, but immediately I feel myself controlling... (2 replies)
... I have heard some bad things about stratera as far as side effects mainly losing your appetite. ... (4 replies)
... My son takes concerta and he has done much better this school year, but he does have an eating disorder with this medication. He has taken Strattera in the past and it also caused an eating disorder, he also stayed tired all the time and then after he had been taking the med for a while he started having mood swings everyday as the medication wore off. My son is 6 years old... (5 replies)
... I had that reaction with urinary problems too. In fact, the longer I took Stratera the worse it got. I had to stop taking it. Now I take Adderall xr. It is supposed to be the best for adults. ... (8 replies)

... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif I hate to sound redundant as I've mentioned some of the following content in previous posts - and I'm not looking for sympathy - I just need advice on how it is you all came to grips and accepted having ADD so I can apply it and MOVE ON...... I've always been in denial and felt embarrassed to tell anyone I have ADD. After 40ish... (1 replies)
... My daughter is 7 and has just been diagnosed with adhd. Stratera is the first med we are trying, quite honestly, I am a bit concerned after reading your comments. ... (98 replies)
... Apa6: I also had trouble stopping Adderal. I became very dependant on it since it worked so good for me. I began to worry because I seemed to act like a drug-addict (i.e: I would ask my aunt to please give me some of my nephews pills, or sometimes when I forgot to take the Adderal in the morning before work - I would drive all the way back home (about 20 miles) because I... ... can you tell me how long it takes most ADD meds to work? my husband is on wellbutrin, currently as an adjunct to effexor (an antiD), and he was on more of it but he got the shakes from it so our GP reduced the dose ... well, he's on a higher dosage of wellbutrin now for ADD and it occurs to me that if he had ADD on the humoungus dose that he was on BEFORE we ralised he had... ... well, he's gone w/o me and that's just fine by me -- you have no idea just how weird he gets .. the GP just said "take more wellbutrin", which he is already on (obviously), and more just gives him the shakes (he wasw on more for depression, and reduced the dose)... so THEN the GP said that he'd just have to deal with the shakes -- that or ADD ...FAUGH! and since I wasn't... ... Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I know how it is with trial and error and it is no fun. My doc put me on Stratera yesterday and I have not taken the first dose yet. I think I might tonight. He started me on a small dosage because he knows I do not want to start it. ... (5 replies)
