... Also, although it probably isn't the other drugs at this point, can't relax on those forever as some drugs cause culmative side effects, meaning years can go by and then a sensitivity develops, much the same as allergies can occur in normally benign substances with consistant overexposure. I agree with the other poster, how on earth can a 3 year old really truly be... (10 replies)

... Thanks for your suggestions index. Actually, my husband and I have discussed taking him off the Strattera. He also takes asthma meds and they of course can have a stimulant effect. We are going to make an appointment with his doctor to discuss these problems. As far as the traumatic part, that was one of the first things that came to mind. The only things I can think... ... Hello, I'm new to this forum but felt I had to finally open the door and share a few things. I don't want to be a sad sack, but I'm painted into an awful corner with seemingly no way out and have been thinking and feeling that the worst may be inevitable. I don't see a way out of my situation and the future looks very bleak, painful and without purpose other than to... (1 replies)

... LilMiss, Yes, there are way too many kids on these drugs. Even the ones who seem to benefit may develop things like tolerance and thus need to increase dosages, mood or bi-polar problems, blood pressure, anxiety, sleep problems eventually. One such kid was my nephew.....he was first put on Adderall and his parents praised it and how well he was doing in school. But I... (9 replies)

... I really can't say, because it seems all ADD drugs have these adverse effects on mood and sleep. I don't know if it will do much good to talk to the doctor. Doctors only seem to want to prescribe something or find some catch all answer when confronted with someone who isn't having the success that others sometime get witht the meds, although that success is only temporary,... ... I have the same problem as well. It's like when somebody says somthing to me that I feel passionate about, and no thoughts come to my head or words out of my mouth. The conversation is always one-sided. Yet, I may still have strong convictions about what the other person is saying. I nod my head alot and agree with the other person, but that's all. I am not ADD, but... (14 replies)

My nephew took Adderall and it caused mood swings ( sort of like bi-polar), aggression, crying for no reason and some sleep problems.....of course, it "worked" for his schooling but he was turning into another kid. Then they tried Strattera; seemed to be so much better than the stimulant at first, but then he had some extreme fatigue that wouldn't let... (10 replies)

... No, I'm definitely not bi-polar. My moods weren't that bad, just not my normal happy self....maybe I should have said "irritable". I am more laid-back with the strattera, and things don't get to me like they used to, that is a positive I can see. However, every day at one time or another, I still forget something or where I have laid something. Am I becoming immune to the... (18 replies)
