kmstr, you will have to go through some pain, accept that, but how bad do you want control of your life? Remember, long term use of these narcotics can kill you. I used that for motivation, plus I didn't want to lose my wife. I am on a reduction plan under my doctor's supervision. I was taking up to twenty oxycodone or percocets a day. When I finally decided to seek help, he gave me a perscription that allowed me to take six percs per day for two weeks. He then gave me enough for four a day for a month and on Dec 31 he will cut that to 2 or 3 a day. And the fact that I give the pills to my wife helps also, because if I had control of the bottle, I'd pop them. I have pain, but I also enjoy the high. So now I have to deal with the consequences. I hope to get to the point where I can have a bottle of percocet in the medicine chest for days when I just can't stand the pain. My wife wants me off of them altogether, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I strongly urge you to see professional advice, I'm not sure how many people can quit cold turkey or tapor themselves off on their own, but I'll bet it is a single digit percentage.
