Hi all,

I have been on 1 or 2 10/325 percocet every 5 hours for 1 1/2 years. I am down to 1/8 of a pill twice today and none tomorrow. I am using the minerals, ltyrosine, B complex from the post i saw on this site. So far today, i am doing ok. I will be so glad to get this out of my system for good, even though i suffer from chronic pain. It is just too tempting to take more than i need. I am also using ultram for the pain. I know these can be addicting too-all ready went through the taper from those, but i never abused them and am only going to take them for a few days.

I have been on Concerta 54 for 2 1/2 years and it is like speed to me which probably means i don't need them. I feel listless, bored, unmotivated.

Lastly, I tried a xanax taper w/o using valium from the ashton manual and it was a nightmare. I have been on 0.5 mg 3 x day and 2mg at night for almost 10 years. I went ahead and upped my dose because i learned from the ashton manual - and the side effects - that i was tapering too quickly. I am calling my doctor on Monday to see if he will let me do a taper with valium.

Coming to this board helps so much. I need support. Thanks.

Does tapering work well for you? I found that if I have the pills that I NEED at home to taper, I'll eat them all in a day or so. I live in rural Arkansas and the closest methadone clinic is 2 1/2 hrs away. BUT - My pharmacist here has helped people taper (prescription drugs are a BIG problem here) by allowing them to come to his pharmacy to take their tapering dasages until they're completely through with the meds. It is inconvenient, I know, but it works for some people. I wish you well, and remember, - The pills only give you a FALSE sense of happiness. This is why the "mental" part of w/d's is so bad, you can't remeber what you did or how you functioned w/out them before. When your through, You will FEEL again, and yes, it is scary to do that w/out pills, but don't you think it's time to FEEL again anyway?
When things start feeling weird (and they will), walk outside and FEEL the warmth of the sun on your face, smell the aroma of a winter rose, look for the beauty (it may be hard to find right now) in the smiles of passer-by's. Also, notice that nature has a cycle, a beginning, a middle and an end. In the Spring we experience nature replinishing the earth. In the summer, it lives in the bounty of the work produced in the spring. In the fall, nature is like a "cleanser", it begins to put it's "only the strong Survive Theory" into effect (ex: leaves fall from the trees, small plants can't take the first bite of frost so they whither away) and then there's winter, the time that nature give us to come to terms with the losses in our lives (everything dies). The key to this is that the "strong" will return to start this cycle all over again in the Spring. The Strong do not die in the harsh grips of a cripplingly cold winter, they may think that they will, but they don't, they pick themselves up and start all over again.
