I can totally relate to what you are going through. My husband and I were addicted to Lortabs, Percocet..anything we could get for over 5 years. We then ended up finding someone who would sell us morphine and got addicted to that. When we ran out we would always call it the Lortab "hangover" and it sucks! 2 kids, have to get up and go to work...just to function was horrible! We lost jobs during all of this, my husband went to jail for forging a prescription, doctor hopping and on and on and on....
We finally decided to go to a doctor and try to get some help. As we were taking morphine by then he prescribed us Methadone. My husband took way too many (just to feel better) and ended up aspirating in his sleep and was in the hospital for 2 weeks on a breathing tube with pnuemonia. He woke up in the hospital and had no idea where he was or what happened and on this particular day the nurse didn't restrain his arms tight enough and he pulled the tube out of his throat. He ended up leaving the hospital 4 days later and went back to the same doctor and got more Methadone. This time he didn't abuse them but the damage from his previous overdose to his lungs was too much and he died 10 days after leaving the hospital. His cause of death was acute methadone toxicity. It will be 2 years this Thursday since he died and I have been on Methadone the entire time up until 9 days ago. I am sick and miserable and now going through it alone. The only thing that keeps me going is my childen and fortunately my daughter is 13 so she is a big help with my 6 year old son. I have delt with this addiction for 7 years now and am still dealing with it today. I wish you the best of luck and I am thinking of you...
