gdn,
How long have you been taking the lortab & how much do you take a day? As far as how to get off there are many ways that people choose to...some go cold turkey, some taper, some go to a detox center, inpatient rehab, some choose opiate replacement therapy with drugs such as Suboxone, Subutex....
I have been addicted to hydrocodone off and on for the past 10 years or so. My latest episode was a 2 year addiction to Norco which is Hydro 10/325, I think the Lortab is 10/500 right? Anyway, on May 23, 2009 I stopped the Norco, actually I took my last dose the morning of the 22nd and went in to my Psychiatrist's office the morning of 5/23in mild withdrawls (he's also an addiction specialist) and had my suboxone induction. I took 8mg then about 20 minutes later took another 8mg. I never went through withdrawls. Today is my 56th day on the suboxone and I feel great! Some folks use it short term and just for detox and get off fairly quickly. Others use it for more of a maintenance medication. I know that I need more of a long term use as if I went of now, or even soon, I think I'd relapse quickly. It does help a ton with the cravings but I still struggle with psychological cravings.
You can find suboxone doctors online and see if there is one near you. I'm not sure about you but I have good insurance coverage, thank goodness, that covers my monthly Dr. visits plus my medication.
Please don't think this is the only way to go, there are lots of ways, in fact there is a good home detox remedy listed at the top of the page.

I wish you the very best! Please come back and let us know how you're doing!
