... Hi! Yes, just a short course of Xanax can cause withdrawal, benzo's are highly addictive. They have a long half-life and linger in the body. The best thing to do is taper off of them, but it sounds like you're already out of them. WD symptoms vary, but include anxiety, panic attacks, depression and distorted sensory perception.
