The recommended treatment for alcohol detox is guarded doses of benzos like valium, etc which will help prevent seizures, stroke, or other dangerous effects of alcohol withdrawal. ... (3 replies)

... I do feel for you. I haven't used suboxone (sp?), but my thinking is that we didn't get here overnight, that nothing worth having comes easy, that without the pain there is no gain. We have to go through what is necessary for us to NEVER go back again. We will get through this; the depression, the weight loss, weakness and all the other "fun stuff" we've got to look forward... ... Confused..I never had a problem with benzo's. I do know some people who've gone through it and it isn't pretty. I've seen some succeed with a very long taper program. I've also known people who have gone to detox. What I do have experience with is being an addict. We have some basic similarities regardless of the drug of choice. I don't think all detox programs are "bad".... (16 replies)
