Marty, since it's not like a benzo (valium, xanax etc) or an anti-depressant, but more of an opium drug, I can't say that I know what kind of schedule to use, but for me, at 2 a day for 9 weeks, I just kept cutting back a little at a time. ... Hey Emerald I am VERY familiar with Ultram. I started taking it about 3 years ago for a back injury and I never could get off of them until about 2 weeks ago I went cold turkey. Ultram does help with pain, you can get them easier from Doctors more so than hydros, vics, perc etc; because they are not controlled and most Doctors don't believe they are addictive in the same... ... not a schedule 2 drug because it isn't a narcotic. I am highly sensitive to drugs, it only takes a little to knock me out, hubby laughs at me because of it. ... hi, i took tramadol (ultram) on and off for a couple of years and have been through my share of withdrawals from as high as 25-30 a day. first of all, please realize everyone is different. i cold turkey withdrew from 5mg of Xanex per day and had no problem - i would not recommend this to anyone - however, tramadol was hell for me. i would suggest a tapering, but it sounds like... ... I am sorry to hear that you got so addicted (innocently) to this drug from hell. I was only on 2 a day for 9 weeks & had horrible withdrawals. My husband had to take a week off work & stay home with me, I tapered down, cutting the pills smaller & smaller each day. It IS a synthetic opiate, & contrary to what was previously thought by doctors, it IS HIGHLY addictive. ... (61 replies)
