i have stage 3 adrenal exhaustion w/ many symptoms including palpitations. can anyone relate? the kind i experience, & have been for the past 5 mths or so are...i could be standing , sitting, watching tv , walking, anything - when all of a sudden my heart feels like it thumped or something. like it stopped for a beat but thumped back into motion. its very scary, cardiologist says i am fine. i am skeptical, afraid to exercise. :(
can anyone relate?

I can totally relate CJP. My heart would feel like that a lot during the day and of course the first diagnosis was anxiety attacks because I'm a woman! I insisted that wasn't it and had a stress test (5mph for 12 minutes, uphill) definitely not cardiac. I also had an echocardiogram and a 24-hour holter monitor all of which were normal. Since I have been found a new doctor that listens she has diagnosed me with Stage II Adrenal Dysfunction and I'm taking adrenal support and Pregnenolone 30mg along with lots of stomach support because I'm also allergic to eggs, dairy, soy, and wheat. The palpitations have disappeared except last night when I had it for two hours after I went to bed. Could it have been the bag of jelly beans I ate? Sugar definitely has an adverse reaction for me.

A couple of you have mentioned "stage 2 or stage 3" adrenal fatigue. How is that diagnosed? All I've come across is Addison's. How do you get diagnosed as having those stages of adrenal fatigue? What type of doctors diagnosed these? Were there tests to indictate this diagnosis, or were the doctors going on symptoms alone? Thanks very much! ~ Tracy
I too have heart palpatations...it's very scary. I'm still waiting for a doctor to actually acknowledge that it's happening. It's strongest when I lay down. It even wakes me up from sleeping (sometimes I think it might be sleep apnea). Some days I probably have 50 of them. They all started AFTER I started taking thyroid meds. The longer I take the meds the worse it gets. I've actually stopped my thyroid meds because they were so strong. I've assumed it was low adrenal function...are all of you saying this isn't the case? Also...I would also like to know the difference between "stage 2 or stage 3" adrenal fatigue.

Low adrenals with normal/low thyroid can cause heart palpitations. I also experienced skipped/rapid heart beats. When I began taking hydrocortisone the effect mainly went away but often reappeared. Only after starting DHEA did those symptoms completey disappear. Occationally they return and I have found that it happens a few hours after eating too much sugar.
