Addison's Disease Message Board

Addison's Disease Board Index

Hi everyone, I know I posted I think it was yesterday morning and I haven't been able to answer because I've been too sick. I have been seeking an addisons diagnosis for almost over a yr. The doctors I have seen are all writting me off as a hypochondriac who reads too much on the internet with panic disorder. I've been sick for over 10 yrs with Lyme Disease 2 other tick infections and candida. A massive case of candida.. I started showing what I think are symptoms of Addison's or an adrenal related disorder over a yr ago..I have serum cortisol tests run and because they come out low normal I"m always told my adrenals are fine.. Well as of the last yr I haven't been able to swallow much solid food, my throat and esophagus spasms when I try too. I have massive heart burn as well an none of the PPi's (acid blockers I've been on have helped)I can no longer digest beef or most other foods. I can not have wheat sugar or dairy. I am currently 5ft and only 85 POUNDS! I am sick as hell..

Last night I finally went to the ER after being in bed sick for days because I had horrible diahhrea like I've NEVER had before in my life an it just wouldn't stop until I took some Immodium.I had horrile stomach cramps,a headache and I was an am VERY Weak and tired.. They took blood from me, hooked me up to a bag of saline.. My blood pressure because I was having panic attacks all day never dropped below 93 over 57 infact in the ER it was 132 over 78 My labs all came out normal so they unhooked me and sent me home asking me for a stool sample because I may have Giardia? Well soon as I got home I had a HORRIBLE bout of diahrrea 5 more times and then it just all stopped. Now I have my period and I am STILL VERY weak and tired and dizzy..My blood pressure at home today ofcourse, (murphy's law) keeps dropping to like 88 ver 53 my pulse doesn't drop below 68.. Is it me? Maybe it's not my adrenals? Maybe they're all right and Im just a hypochodriac with panic disorder who's been sick for 11 yrs? All I know is I am VERY sick and NOONE will take me seriously.. I am afraid I am going to have to DIE to show everyone something is wrong.. My husband is also currently leaving me because I"m sick.. I dont know what else to do

Hi Princess  You poor little thing! None of us think your crazy because we've all been through the mill ourselves for one reason of another--sometimes for years on end! We know that there's something wrong with our bodies but convincing the world of it takes real work. What compounds it is if you have panic disorder (I personally am a graduate of 'Agoraphobia U') and part of the assembly line squad who has visited numerous doctors and been told "You're fine". I have two sisters with hypothyroid problems and I've been told everything is okay--even to the point of ending up in the psych unit many times. Once I systematically listed all of my ailments, I began to knock them all down one by one by addressing them. For panic disorder, anxiety and depression, I sought treatment, medication and therapy. As I began to gain more strength, I would take each part of my body and fix what was wrong, It could have been needing my teeth to be checked, my ears, my diet(which I'm still working on). When I was really tired, I would give in to it and just stay in bed until Nature told me to move around a bit. The biggest thing that can make you feel better is getting a hug once in a while and telling yourself that you are not crazy(even if you just hug yourself). Prayer is very important as this can give you some peace in your soul. You have been to Hell and back and you will get past this. Calling a support group for Lyme Disease patients and survivors might be worth a try. I, too, cannot eat beef and have a problem with dairy and I have found soy milk helps as well as Lactaid. I take amitriptyline (antidepressant) and it helps with pain and sleep, which is what you desperately need(Restful sleep) and all the outside support you can get. If you have the insurance, get to the best hospital or clinic in your city and before you go, have someone who knows you the best write down all of your symptoms and have them go with you and help be your advocate. I know personally depressive illness compounds anything physical that I might have. I will keep you in my prayers and send you the biggest  hugs  in the world because you deserve them!!! Barbara
