I have been taking isocort since April, I take 3 5 mg pellets in the morning, 3 at noon, and 3 around 3-4 p.m. It contains freeze-dried adrenal cortex(from cows), plus echinacea extract, prunnus spp.,and lomatium disseclum root(don't know the purpose of the last 3). I believe the 5 mg pellets are about equal to 5 mg of cortef.

I was prescribed this by my doctor, who is probably more holistic than other drs. and she carries it in her office. I do not know if you can get it without seeing a dr. and would not recommend taking it before having your cortisol levels checked.

Annemy, I noticed a difference right away, but my lab results showed "adrenal failure", so I was pretty bad off to begin with. Maybe you are not on high enough dosage? I think I am on the max dosage but am trying to get the dosage down to 30 mg a day. If you aren't getting completely better, maybe you should talk to your doc about increasing your dosage, or maybe there is something else going on? For me, I have Lyme disease and heavy metal issues as well which I believe has been a major contributor to my adrenal problems. I am also on Armour Thyroid, so maybe you might want to have your thyroid tested(if you haven't already).
Hope this helps.

Is there more than one lab test for Lyme Disease? My blood test came back negative, but I heard that the test can be inaccurate.

Have you been taking something to combat the heavy metals issue?
