Hypoadrenia?
May 29, 2006
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in 2002, but most symptoms continued a year later when my thyroid blood work was leveled off after being on thyroid meds. Since then i have been on a ravenous hunt for someone....a doctor, specialist, naturopath, ANYBODY...who could help. My life was passing me by as i felt sooo tired and brain foggy and basically useless to the world. To make a loooooong story short, i read a book on Adrenal Fatigue and the symptoms mentioned was all me to a tee. So I've been on a glandular adrenal supplement since last October which has helped no question! My energy has increased and my sleep has improved, my muscle aches have lessened, my body temp is getting up close to normal, etc, etc. The book mentions that it can take up to 2 years to get the adrenals built up, so i will continue to take the adrenal stuff for that duration or until i feel like myself again. I get setbacks when i go through stressful situations and then it takes me a few days to a week to see things progressing again.

I'm assuming that what i have is hypoadrenia as my cortisol was tested last fall by an endo in Toronto and he said it came out normal.

I tell you, it has been like a living nightmare trying to convince doctors and friends and family that this is NOT only in my head!

Also, i was born with no ovaries....they never developed and i only have a bit of tissue where they should have been so i didn't have puberty til i went on hormones at age 19. I have a letter from an endo from way back then who said that eventually my thyroid and adrenals might give out. (I'm so glad i kept that letter 20 years later as that endo has died many years ago.) Anyway, my naturopath said that the ovarian problem and thyroid, as well as stressful situations in my life would have put a lot of stress on my adrenals which makes PERFECT sense to me.

Well, I'm ever so thankful that i appear to be on the route to better health.
