[QUOTE=TrinaJean]Happy New Year
My husband had an Adrenal Crisis on Sunday Nov.26th. He was fine when he went to bed that Sat. night, but woke up Sunday morning vomitimg and with a temp of 102.8. My son happened to call from work as I was getting ready to take a shower so I could take him to the ER. He ended up having to leave work and come and help me get his dad up. My husband was so weak that he couldn't even dress himself or stand up. He was hospitalized for 4 days. I asked the doctor if he had Addison's and he said no. He just had severe Adrenal Insufficiency. This episode was a real eye opener as to how quickly a situation can go down hill. he is on his meds now and is doing pretty well except for worsening problems with depression. He is on medication for it but I think his dosage needs to be increased. He goes to see his Endocrinologist on Tuesday. We are going to ask for a referal to a physcologist at that appt. Thank you to all who have written back with advise.

If this happens again, your husband should be transported to the hospital in an ambulance. He needs the IV fluids immeadiately. He could be in very serious condition by the time he is transported by car, checked into the ER & evaluated.

Adrenal Insufficiency & Addisons are treated the same. Having addisons simply means it is autoimmune. Your husband's is "secondary" caused by the pituitary problem.

Please tell me which cortisol your husband is taking. What time of day does he take each dose & how much?

Is your husband drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily.

What are his sodium & potassium levels?
