Addison's Disease Board Index

If you are asking about using Cortisol to diagnose Addison's, what you need to get is an called ACTH stimulation test. They measure your cortisol before and after an injection of ACTH. If your Adrenal glands are functioning your cortisol level should increase significantly (like double). Just a single random cortisol will not tell you much as it varies widely. Another possible test is a 24 hour urine cortisol. Your endocrinologist should be familiar with these tests.
