Addison's Disease Message Board

Addison's Disease Board Index

First, why do you take prednisone instead of hydrocortisone? Are you a primary or a secondary? It doesn't much matter which, but some docs treat primaries different than secondaries. If you are a primary, downen was right on and a correct fludrocortisone dose is imperative to feeling well. Forget the bloodwork on this and go by how you feel so long as your electrolytes are in range. Now, about the thyroid; you will never get Addison's disease under good control with an out of whack thyroid situation, so try to get a clear diagnosis and good treatment of that and the Addison's should improve as well. It is possible, for example, that your thyroid problem is using up your prednisone too quickly. That would explain the hyperpigmentation you are seeing on you knuckles. I hope you feel better.
