yes, I know this disease can be very difficult to live with. It is what it is, and you must do the very best you can to manage it. Trust me, I totally understand your fear and frustration. I don't really know how to respond to your questions as I am not a doc, but I do not believe that the prednisone is the cause of your physical pain. In fact, prednisone is often prescribed for pain/inflammation throughout the body. Physical pain/inflammation is often due to LOW cortisol levels. My gut tells me, and your adrenal stim. test tells me that you're not taking enough cortisol. You're currently taking 6 mg prednisone which is the equivalent to 24 mg hydrocortisone... and the typical replacement dose for most Addisonian's is 25-30mg hydrocortisone. I would speak with your doc about increasing your pred. a touch and see if that helps.
To answer your question whether anyone takes prednisone.... I have recently switched to prednisone from hydrocortisone. Prednisone works better for me because it is a longer acting steroid so I don't have to take it as often as I was having to take the hydrocortisone. I was waking up in the middle of the night in steroid withdrawal, etc. With prednisone, I am able to get through to the a.m.
I hope this helps a bit.... hang in there and again, try taking a bit more cortisol and see if this brings you some relief.
