Bulls'eye rash
Jul 24, 2009
Awhile back I noticed a small itchy red round rash on my hand. I thought it was exema, but a friend thought otherwise.

Next we concluded it was ringworm, and used my husbands Lamisil to treat it. Now I've read a few posts about bulls'eye rash...will someone please explain?

A bulls eye rash is a classic symptom of being bitten by a tick infected with Borrelia, which causes Lyme disease. It looks just like a bulls eye. You can Google image "bulls eye rash" to look at some pictures of it. If you think this may be what you have, go see your doctor immediately, as early treatment can be given with antibiotics. Lyme disease can be a life-long, chronic, major health problem so you need to get in to see a doctor as soon as possible if you believe you have (or have had) the rash. Especially if you have fever or flu-like symptoms. It's also very hard to diagnose in later stages, so if you still have this bulls eye rash, take a picture of it. I see that you're from Alberta, Canada, and there are ticks infested with Borrelia in your area.
