Why oh why???
Mar 12, 2010
Can't people and doctors see that MS, Addisons, CFIDS/CFS, FM, ME, and a whole host of other "illnesses" are all the exact same condition....these are mearly "collections of symptoms" that are caused by disease, and the "disease" is any number of pathogens (heavy metals, viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma, etc.) that are making you sick...these are mostly just nulti-infection syndromes...I supposed;y have CFS, but yet when I read all these posts about Addison's disease, it basically describes the same thing...I have hormone issues, etc, etc...

So I am just curious as to why these syndromes with no specific cause are all grouped into different so called "diseases"...it would be so much easier if it was like Lyme disease where there was one specific cause and up or down blood tests...THEN MAYBE doctors would actually understand these conditions better...

So maay I leave with a question just to be sure I am not of my rocker; Is Addision's disease linked to any common pathogens like HHV6 or EBV or CMV???

thx

EDIT: I just saw an article on mayo clinc that actually has the audacity to suggest Addison's is not a real disease and that Fibromyalgia is the real cause...although that fiots into what I was saying about these conditions being all related or even the same thing, it is horrible for them to shun one "syndrome" that has multiple unknown causes and then acknowledge another...HMMMM I guess enough medical professionals have actually suffered the physical pain of Fibro to the point where they will acknowledge that but not another similar syndrome!!! That just urks me in a big way. Why can't these people see the issue from 10,000 feet up and put together the pieces of the puzzle...

Anyway, I do not crave salt but my potassium runs a bit low...do I ahve addison's? Who has had a saliva cortisol test and is that a good way to determine?

I understand what you mean, the cause for these things could possibly be the same. I think the problem is they don't really know for sure what causes autoimmune diseases and other mystery syndromes. There are genetic links but also there are triggers such as defficiencies, viruses, etc.

My cortisol levels were low (lower than the bottom of the reference range) on the saliva test for the whole day but normal when I had a blood test. I've read that people with Addisons would have very low levels throughout the day, but I think this would be when they were getting to the crisis stage. I don't know what the tests would look like for someone who is in the early stages of the disease. It'd be interesting to know if anyone here suffering from it ever had the saliva test.

Have you looked into Cushing's Syndrome? I think that is associated with elevated night time cortisol levels.

well i know about cushings, but I thought is was elevated cortisol all the time? Morning lower than normal cortisol and slightly higher midnight levels than normal should be adrenal fatigue shouldn't it???

I am so confused, but I can tell you I feel weak and like wearing a lead suit on & of until lunchtime or so, then normal to bad in the afternoon (mostly bad), and then anxiety and trouble sleeping & light sleep at night...

It is a vicious cycle and my salvia cortisol test was almost backwards as it should normally be. lower than normal in AM and higher than normal PM...is that cushings?
