Hello everyone,

Well ever since I started going to the endo I feel worse. I need help and all he does is wants me off of the steroids (prednisone). I went from 20 MG to 10when I saw him last. If my 24 hr cortisol came SUPER low ( and thats because I took the test when I was on 10mg of prednisone), well now that he has me on 5, I feel like Im dying. Seriously, I can't function. I asked him what were we going to do because I need something. We can't wait to see if my adrenal glands "wake up"..Im gonna die. Or I feel like I am :(

Now he says my adrenals have atrophied. So on and so on, all due to looking at my 24 hr urine. My low pressuers are not due to the aldosterone but due the epinephrine. I won't even take those meds because I feel so bad.( its meds to raise the BP)I just don't know what to do. I increased my prednisone to 2.5 in the afternoons. I had to, and I feel better.

I wanna switch endos but don't know if my insurance will let me. Im just frustrated. I really don't think if my adrenals are atrophied that they are going to wake up. He needs to treat me. All my labs come back low on almost everything. I had a crisis after my galbladder surgery..So my question to you is, he doesn't want me on prednisone, YET, if I am stressed, he said take more. Well how much more is more????? Its crazy...Well, hes stressing me out and I really don't want to go back to him...

Thanks for any info,

Lisa
Missy, your doc is trying to get your adrenals to "kick in" so you don't end up with permanent addisons. Reducing you steriods sucks but you need to try it. Also, don't go up and down on prednisone. It doesn't work that way. Cortef or hydrocort does but not pred. That in itself can cause you to feel like crap constantly. Get on a dosage and slowly over a period of a month (or two) reduce to the level your doc wants. Furthermore, you need to function. Force yourself. Walk, do housework, mow the lawn. This will stimulate adrenal function by adding just a little tiny bit of stress. Don't do agressive excersize. Stay positive, this helps more than anything.

Thanks for your response and your right about what you said. I have a new appt with a new endo next Friday. I will do what I have to do to try to get to feeling better. My pressures are so low and I am so tired. I had my cortisol levels done in July (24 hr urine) and I was less that 1mcg and the norm was 5mg not mcg. So im taking all my previous lab results to the new endo and see what she can do. And I will get my butt in gear to get myself to feeling better :D

Lisa
