They're both caused by hormonal imbalances that stimulate melanin production as opposed to outright sun damage or aging. ... Hi, Yes, I have got it diagnosed since I went into adrenal crisis. So, the doctor put me on hydrocortisone 10mcg in the morning, 5 mcg in the afternoon. My dhea level was normal and other hormones were fine. I have no menstrual issues. I do not use any OCP's or hormonal products, so I do not have melasma. ... Hi I have secondary Addisons and dont have the sketchy skin sorry. One thing poo ugh I've been on 15 mg of hydrocortisone for about 2 yrs and my endorsement says its cause my a1c to go up! ... Unfortunately I think it may be a case of upping your hydrocortisone levels as dizziness is a classic sign of not being on enough hydrocortisone. With regards to borderline hypothyroidism I would suggest you get checked out very regularly as you have a lot of the classic symptoms of this I have both addisons and hypothyroidism so know the symptoms. Cost of injections

... Hi can anyone tell me how much an injection would cost every month for someone with addisons. My niece has just been diagnosed but was told they would cost 7. Now she is telling us they will cost 75. Any rough cost please (0 replies)
... Certainly could be Addison's. A serum cortisol at 8 AM and 4 PM may suffice as a screen. If it is low, you don't need the ACTH test. Your electrolytes should be checked too. I would ask PCP to check those and refer you to an endo. (2 replies)
... Hi you would need to get a. Acth test done where you get with an endo dr at the hosp and at 1/2 hr intervals for 3 times they give you cortisol and the dr checks your blood levels. That's how they ck for it cathy (2 replies)

Here's what has worked for me -- My excessive thirst and dehydration corrected when I started fludrocortisone. It made a huge difference, and I became so much more comfortable.
