... Here's what I think you should do. I think you should schedule an appointment, and tell the doctor your symptoms. Then allow your doctor to make his own diagnosis without you telling him what you think. Please don't anticipate the worst! Let the doctor do their job. Let us know what you are told, okay? ... Oh I forgot! I had what I thought was a kidney infection, my back hurt so bad I could hardly stand up, I crouched up, bending my knees to walk. Went to doc, he touched my back I guess at kidney level, I went thru the roof. Ordered antibiotics, but the weird thing is, my urine came back clear. I was inbred for 7days with that episode, it took months to get over. In fact I... (1 replies)

... Hi Jdar and Noevr, I'm sorry you are going through this. A few points to consider. 1. Addison's or cortisol deficiency is not difficult to control; 2. 7.5 mg of hydrocortisone is a tiny dose. Well below full replacement and very low for even a mild deficiency. 20-25 mg of hydrocortisone is equivalent to 5 mg of prednisone. The typical starting dose for a female... (4 replies)

... Hi, long time addisonian here (13years). To me I think it sounds like you are on too much steroid, I think that the perfect dose is one that has no effect on your weight (too much=weight gain, not enough = weight loss). I've managed to stay the same weight pretty much for the last 5 years and I put that down to my dose, as if it gets increased immediately my appetite goes... (1 replies)

... The ACTH stimulation test is not scary at all. The worst part of it is getting blood drawn, which is done initially for a baseline, then 30 and 60 minutes after the ACTH is given. You can ask them to use a buffalo cap so you only have to get stuck once. It is a small IV catheter that stays in place so they can draw blood without poking you 3times. That is all there is to it.... (1 replies)
