I suffer from allergies and for the past 2 years have had increasingly worse post nasal drainage on the right side only. It has now turned into constant bad ear pain and pressure along with occasional sinus headaches, nausea and dizziness and also some occasional tingling on the side of my head and face. I am seeing an ENT next week and was curious if anyone has seen an ENT for similar reasons and if so, what did they do for you?

I am concerned that the chronic post nasal drip may have caused eustachian tube dysfunction or worse.

I am bit nervous/anxious about seeing the ENT so any help to let me know what I can expect from my ENT visit (i.e., what tests do they perform, etc.) would be helpful.

Thank you.

Yeah I haven't seen an ENT yet(although I'm seeing a lung doctor that also specializes in sinuses/allergies in 2 weeks)..which is kind of stupid of me I've suffered from ETD for 2 years now..but anyway..yeah doctors don't take it very seriously as a condition, b/c its very common.
PND in itself is not what causes the ETD. ETD is caused by inflammation and possibly some PND in the sinuses that throws off the perfect balance of pressure between the outer ear and the ET.
I didn't even realize I had sinus problems for a really long time..I didn't really think it was a big deal that I always had sinus infections & that my doctor always told me my sinuses were swollen! Then the ear pain came..and that kinda hit me that I had some problems I needed to take care of. I take Flonase(steroid nose spray), which helps a lot..it doesn't help completely but it does take the horrible pain from the pressure away..still leaves me congested but at least out of pain. I also take Clarinex(mainly 4 skin allergies), but that does help my ETD 2.
Your symptoms sound similar to mine..and usually in that case, it's treated as an allergy, allergy testing done, possibly immunotherapy, steroid nose sprays, anti inflammatory meds, antihistamines, stuff like that. They may do hearing tests and balance tests also.
Well I hope the best for you! hope this helped
