my doc is calling in antibiotics right now and I am so mad. Is it normal to get infections after surgery? I have been irrigating every day 4x and still i got an infection. I thought what I was feeling wasn't normal. I've congested, stuffed up nose, sneezing, thick green mucous is coming out of my nose, and I can feel fluid going from one side of my sinus passages to the other. GGGRRRR, I'm so frustrated cause I'm also very dizzy still and is actually has gotten worse. I'm sure is is from the infection but it still is worrying me. I thought this was going to get better, not worse. GEEZ!!! So, anyone have any good tips for me?

Oh, and I still ahve the packing in my head! He said it will disolve on it's own 4-6 weeks after Op., but I'm thinking that it is making things worse and I wish my ENT would just yank it out.

I am so sorry that you ended up with a sinus infection after surgery, but it is very common. I had the surgery in 1999 and ended up with Pseudomonas bacteria. The ENT gave me Keflex to treat it, but it didn't help. My fever spiked to 103, and he finally decided he needed to culture the sinuses. It seems Pseudomonas bacteria is very resistant to most antibiotics. I ended up on Ciproflaxicin for months on end. It was the most horrific experience of my life. I finally turned to a naturopath who told me to stop all of the meds I was taking. Within a week of usuing herbal remedies, I was better. The fever had diminished and the green glob was finally under control. It made me a true believer in natural medicine. I ended up using grapefruitseed extract nose-spray, grapefruitseed extract capsules, olive leaf extract, Seasilver, Xlear with Xylitol nasal wash, and a very good multi vitamin and mineral supplement. I had been on so many sinus medicines for so many years. Every brand of corticosteroid spray out there including Flonase, Nasonex, and even oral steroids , such as, prednisone. I took the Entex, Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec, and it seemed they would mask the symptoms for a short period of time, but I would become infected every other month for two years prior to the sinus surgery. I should also mention I was on continual antibiotics prior to the surgery for repeated infections. I think in retrospect I would have the sinus surgery done again, but I would use different methods of irrigation afterwards and use natural herbs and remedies to keep the bacteria low and immune system up after surgery. I hope this helps! Feel better soon.

Halo
