Hello :) I'm sorry if this post is long-winded, but I just need to get this off my chest & hopefully get some feedback. It'd be much appreciated !!!

to begin, I'm 17 years old. I'm posting on this board because I have a serious congestion problem. :/ As I've been growing up, my family and I had always believed that I just caught colds easily. The sore throat, stuffy nose, coughing and sneezing. Now, I don't believe this is the case anymore.
Literally, I am congested 365 days a year. This is not an exaggeration, lol. It doesn't get better or worse with the seasons, I'm just stuffy 24/7 ...
I just learned in January what the term for this is, but now I realize that for years I've been suffering from post-nasal drip. That constant feeling of something running down the back of my throat from my nose. And it's gotten very bad, it's at the point where there is so much mucus that I can barely breathe or swallow. Falling asleep at night is a challenge. I don't even remember what it's like to be able to inhale through my nose properly.

I used to think it was normal, and didn't think much of it. But now that I'm older, I see that it is definitely a problem. I'm a track and field athlete, and all the phlegm and mucus has always been a nuisance when I'm running, even when I was younger. :/ Also, I just had a lung lobectomy 6 months ago, so breathing is difficult enough without having this additional problem. :(

The "straw that broke the camel's back" happened last year, January 2010. This is when I noticed I had these huge, dark puffy circles under my eyes! Now, as a 16 year old girl, you can imagine the dismay and alarm when I woke up one morning and saw these awful circles. I spent money on all sorts of creams, serums, anti-puff rollers, and even tried homemade remedies to get rid of them. Nothing helped even slightly. I went to my family doctor many times throughout the year complaining about the circles, she dismissed the problem time and time again. I stopped wearing my contact lenses that I had just gotten around the time the circles appeared, thinking that it was the cause. They are still here, months later.

I never thought for a moment that the dark circles may be related to a health problem.

I went to a walk-in clinic last month because once again, my symptoms were acting up. Sore throat, itchy eyes, cough, and horrible nasal congestion. I was also extremely fatigued. He treated me for a sinus infection, and I was given a 7 day course of Biaxin XL, and was also prescribed Nasonex. The symptoms did not improve.

A week later after I had finished the 7 day medication, I went back to the same clinic but this time saw a different doctor. I told her about how my symptoms were not improving, and she told me that if I had sinusitis, the Biaxin should have done the trick. I mentioned the darkness and puffiness under my eyes, and she took a quick look in my nose and said that said that it was very inflamed and irritated. She said that she thinks I have rhinitis. Now, I had never heard this term before in my life, haha. She also mentioned allergic shiners. She told me to continue using the Nasonex.

I went back once again about a week and a half ago, and was sent to get an x-ray of my sinuses, which apparently came out normal. The doctor has sent a referral to an ENT specialist, and he hopes that they will be able to figure out what's wrong. He also said that if worst comes to worst, it may come down to me getting allergy testing. :/ I have never been tested for allergies in my life, by the way. He prescribed me Reactine, which I take once a day. No improvement in my symptoms.

*I have also noticed that about once every month, I get this very thick, yellow discharge from my nose, and I also cough up yellow phleghm. The side of my nose which gets the most congested also happens to be the eye that has the darkest/puffiest circle. This nostril also has blood coming from it sometimes when I blow my nose, but not the other nostril. Coincidence?*

So to end this very long, and somewhat confusing story, I am just at the end of my rope. Does anyone else have any of these symptoms, are experience with allergic shiners and nasal congestion? Is it possible that the dark circles are because of the congestion? And why isn't this Nasonex working?! :/ I'm trying to be patient and wait for my ENT appointment, which is during March break, but I am SO frustrated. I'm sick of looking tired all the time, and not being able to breathe. To make things worse, the mucus in my throat makes me very nauseous and I throw up almost every day. I just feel like I can't get a straight answer. It would be wonderful if I could kill two birds with one stone, and get rid of the dark circles AND be able to breathe properly again ! Honestly, I would be the happiest girl in all of Canada.

Anyone with advice or comments, please share. thank you. :round:
