Hello! I've been having what appears to be allergic reactions to many products in different food groups (which makes it difficult to pinpoint the possible allergy) for five months. I break out in hives and feel my throat tightening, along with some wicked nasal congestion. There are times when it feels like it's going to close up, and it usually stays that way for days and even weeks if I don't watch what I'm eating. The problem is that I've been to the ER quite a few times, but they refuse to treat me for an allergic reaction because my lips/tongue/eyes are not also swollen despite having known sensitivities to dust, pollen, mold and many skin care products.

I have been checked out by an ENT. However, he looked at my throat while I was feeling fine and didn't see anything, but gave me allergy medication, which has little effect.

I have had an endoscopy, a scope, x-rays, and an EKG. I've tried acid reflux medication, benadryl, prozac, celexa, and ativan. The only thing that has helped is prednisone.

So my question is: Is it possible to have swelling that only affects your throat/nose and skin, or it is fairly likely that I'm dealing with something else entirely?

Thanks in advance! I really appreciate it because this undiagnosed allergy/anxiety/reflux is ruining my life. I'm constantly on edge and completely terrified because of the tightness and wheezing, not to mention the fact that I have no idea when I need to go to the ER, if at all.
