Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Message Board

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Board Index

Hi. I am a 40 yr. old reasonably healthy female (carrying a few wxtra pounds after 2 kids). Just last week I started getting what felt like twitches in various parts of my body, but now they seem to have settled into my legs. The most shocking thing was actually seeing them where they rolled through my skin. They do not last for very long, maybe only one or two movements, but they are happening quite frequently. I have no other symptoms. No weakness, tripping etc. Just this horrible feeling that something is really wrong.

I was searching muscle twitches and everything seemed to scream ALS. Some articles I have read say that the twitching is an early sign, others say it happens later as the muscle is "dying" and must be accompanied by weakness. Any thoughts?
