Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Message Board

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Board Index

Where do I start? I am a 33 year old male, married, one 4 year son and another child on the way, which really scares the heck out of me.
For a few years, very sporadic, I have experienced a weakness in my arms and legs, not consistent, lets say once every other month. I never thought anything of it other than my diet is terrible and I dont take vitamins. More recently, last 6 months or so, I have noticed a twitching of the bisep muscles and quads, Lets fast foward to the last month.....
The weakness in my arms has been more consistent. I have noticed that my fingers and toes are colder than they ought to be considering it hasnt been cold outside and they have been slightly numb. My calves and fore arms have had mild cramping and or low grade pain. I have NOT felt a noticable weakness in my legs and I havent had difficulty swallowing and my speech has remained in tact.
I do get a certain slight burning sensation on the skin on my arms and legs occassionally as well.
Does anyone, who has been unfortunate enough to be afflicted by this terrible disease, or anyone who has a loved one who is unfortuantely dealing with this disease, have any ideas what this could be? Does it sound like ALS? Any help is much appreciated....Thanks and god bless.
