Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Message Board

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Board Index

A few days ago I noticed that my right arm muscle is twitching at the elbow area. It is pretty persistent and and sometimes does not stop UNLESS I keep my arm straight down to my side. Once it is bent, the fasciculation's start up and some are quite strong and steady. They sometimes continue all day but there is no pain involved. I do have a pins and needles and numbing sensation in my pinky, at the end of my fingertips and sometimes in my hand. I have had twitches in other areas of my body in the past, but nothing has been the localized. I don't seem to have any weakness, but the numbness can be quite intense and annoying. I do carry a heavy satchel purse that rests in the area of the twitches, I do a lot of lifting and I do find myself sleeping on my arm in an awkward position. My grandfather passed away from ALS many years ago, and his daughter (my mother) had MS. I am self employed and do not have any insurance, so I am looking for advice before I clean out my pocketbook at the Dr's office. Thanks for your help!
