Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Message Board

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Board Index

I know that most of the viewers don't respond, but I'm about to go crazy with worry and still have 10 days until my neuro exam.

I'm a 32 year old female and have been having odd symptoms for about 7 months now. Don't know if any of them are related, but I'm so worried about ALS that a diagnosis of MS would actually make me feel relieved.

About 7 months ago my left side started hurting, like a muscular pain. Shoulder, stiff neck, muscles down my leg, etc. I let it go for awhile, but soon saw a doctor and she gave me x-rays that came back normal. It has since come and gone, usually lasting for a week at a time and then going away.

Fast forward to December, and I had a month long outbreak of canker sores in my mouth. Very strange! They eventually went away, but then the tingling started in my fingers and toes. Would show up for a few days, then leave.

The scariest part of all of this is the twitching. When people say they have twitching, I wonder if its possible to have as much as I do. For a solid month now, the all over body twitching has been nonstop. Legs, arms, back, ribs, you name it. I even felt one in my tongue once. Mostly legs, but all over. Multiple places at a time. I haven't had any real weakness at all. But I also feel like I watch every step I take and how I speak, etc. It has me going out of my mind.

The doctor gave me blood and vitamin tests and those all came back normal. I'm stressed, but mostly because of the twitching!

Can anyone help me? I have two children under 3 and having ALS is my worst nightmare.
